Individual District Results :)

The Red Oak Individual Speech team traveled to Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln February 23 to compete at the district contest. We took 20 students in 31 events. They did an amazing job! We have 16 of the 20 students headed to State, which means 24 of our 31 events qualified for State.

Those going to State in Nevada on March 9 are:

• Kathryn Rooker in both prose and literary program

• Brad Black in both improv and acting

• Angelica Cerda in both acting and storytelling

• Bevin Griffen in both after dinner speaking and solo musical theatre

• NyLea Pafford in both storytelling and literary program

• Maggie Bennett in both public address and literary program

• Geoff Sellers in both acting and improv

• Ellen Fellers in both after dinner speaking and prose

• Jessa Davis in poetry

• Donnie Torbett in solo musical theatre

• Leatha Bennett in prose

• Laura Butz in solo musical theatre

• Travis Schon in prose

• DJ Reich in original oratory

• Nick Black in review

• Jeannie Kort in expository

These students will also be performing for the public on March 4 starting at 5:30 in the high school media center. Please join us for The Evening With the Stars!

Receiving a "2" rating were:

They all did an amazing job and I'm so very proud of them. Their hard work is evident in their scores. These kids juggle speech, sports, musical, school and jobs. Their passion and commitment to speech makes my job - and Ms. Reeve's job - that much more rewarding and easier. They are an amazing group of kids to work with. Ms. Reeve and I couldn't be prouder coaches!
